Introduction

Many teachers say that Vietnamese students are the best students they have ever taught as they are dedicated, keen and have a great deal of respect for teachers.  Walking into the classroom for the first time, many teachers are pleasantly surprised at how welcoming the students are and how eager they are to learn.  Teachers are also generally surprised at how quickly students learn in Vietnam.  There are a few reasons for this; first Vietnamese students learn English at their normal schools, second many students really enjoy learning English and want to improve constantly.  English has become firmly established as the second language of Vietnam, overtaking Chinese and French.  With recent entry into the World Trade Organization, increasing numbers of foreign businesses are coming to Vietnam, and conducting business in English.  This means that English proficiency allows Vietnamese people to conduct business more effectively, which is a major factor in learning and improving English for the majority of students both young and old.  ILA's approach of making English classes fun and enjoyable eases the pressure that is felt by students to learn quickly, while also increasing language retention by allowing all students to relax and enjoy themselves.

At ILA Vietnam, we are focused on the quality of our teaching and the programmes we offer.  We are committed to providing world-class facilities, up-to-date resources, and continual teacher support and development in all of our centres.  All of ILA's newest teachers will receive an induction upon arrival, to help them to adjust to living and working in Vietnam.  Welfare support is available from Academic Managers or an appointed Welfare Coordinator who are happy to point people in the right direction for accomodation and answer any questions teachers may have relating to living in Vietnam. Social events are organised quarterly and annually to help teachers settle in and meet people from other ILA schools. ILA also provides ongoing professional development to all of its teachers through monthly workshops, quarterly observations and annual professional development interviews with our experienced and knowledgeable management.  Finally ILA provides a great way to further your ELT career through its career development pathways and Teacher Training courses.  So, whether you are a brand new teacher or have many years of experience ILA Vietnam has lots to offer you.
