Education
The Diploma is a post-graduate qualification and candidates are usually university graduates or qualified teachers.
The requirement is that candidates should have a standard of education equivalent to that required for entry into higher education and they will normally have undertaken some formal course of practical training at pre-service or in-service level.
Experience
Applicants will normally have a minimum of two years' (1,200 hours) teaching experience in ELT to adults within the last five years. Teaching experience gained with 16 - 18 year olds will count towards this total. Applicants will normally have a range of experience involving teaching different levels and in different contexts.
English level
Applicants must have an awareness of language and a competence in English, both written and spoken, that enables them to follow the course and complete all assessed elements. ILA will conduct assessment when necessary
