Introduction

Clothes and fashion in Vietnam are a passion that many Westerners and Vietnamese share. Whether you are at a club, at work or motoring around town on your motorbike, everyone always wants to look their best.

Fortunately, in Vietnam this is very easy due to the abundance of tailors and fabrics at very reasonable prices. If you need smart clothes for work you can easily find trousers, work-shirts, ties and shoes for men; and skirts, blouses and dresses for women. Many Westerners have a hard time finding clothes that fit correctly; having them tailored is a perfect solution to this problem. It's always a good idea to consult other teachers before going to a tailor as it is likely that there are a few good tailors that they can recommend.

In the larger cities, there is an array of shops catering to foreigners; Ho Chi Minh City even has a Louis Vuitton. This of course runs along side the Vietnamese shops and markets, which offer a limited selection of western basics such as t-shirts and shorts. Western shops are of course fixed price but in the Vietnamese shops and markets, it is anticpated that you will bargain with the seller so never except the first price.
