About Operation Smile Vietnam 

Operation Smile Vietnam (OSV) was established in 1989 and has treated more than 10,000 children and young adults with facial deformities. Nowadays, OSV performs on average 1600 cleft palate and lip surgeries and 3000 dental surgeries a year. OSV not only performs facial surgeries but it also provides a framework of knowledge, technology and skills adjusted for each province and hospitals it partners with. Other than the surgical costs, revenue is invested into OSV’s sustainability and educational programs, empowering their partner hospitals to treat more children on their own.

OSV established its first Comprehensive Care Centre in Hue in 2007, which uses a holistic approach to caring for its patients. The centre provides comprehensive services to its patients including pre-and post-surgery care, counseling, speech therapy, physical therapy and dental services and also provides education and training to local medical volunteers to help raise community awareness. Similar Comprehensive Care Centres are scheduled to be built in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh and Ben Tre in the future.
